Hearing Scratching? We'll Get Them Out—Fast
Scratching in the attic at night. Droppings in the garage. That unmistakable gnawing sound in the walls. When you have an active rodent problem, you need them gone—now. Our trapping service places strategic snap traps and monitors where rodents are most active, with follow-up visits to check traps, remove caught rodents, and assess whether activity has stopped. Most infestations are controlled within 2-4 weeks.

Species We Treat
The Barrier Method
Three simple steps to a pest-free home. Guaranteed.

Assess
We start by identifying where rodents are active and what type you're dealing with. Roof rats behave differently than Norway rats or mice—and that affects where we place traps.
What we look for:
- Fresh droppings, gnaw marks, and grease trails
- Nesting materials near water heaters, HVAC, or insulation
- Activity patterns—attic, garage, crawlspace, wall voids
- Species identification (roof rat, Norway rat, or mouse)
- Entry points for future exclusion recommendations

Trap
We place snap traps in high-activity areas for quick knockdown. Exterior bait stations provide ongoing control and help reduce populations before they enter your home.
Our approach:
- Snap traps in attics positioned along travel routes
- Glue boards as activity monitors in garages and crawlspaces
- Tamper-resistant exterior bait stations—safe around children and pets
- Strategic placement based on rodent behavior patterns
- Documentation of all trap and station locations

Follow Up
We return at about 10 days to check all traps, remove any rodents caught, and assess activity levels. Some infestations need additional follow-ups; we'll let you know what to expect.
Follow-up includes:
- Check and reset all interior traps
- Remove dead rodents (that smell means it's working)
- Assess whether activity has decreased, stopped, or continues
- Service exterior bait stations
- Recommend next steps—additional trapping or exclusion

Frequently Asked Questions About Rodent Trapping
I hear scratching in my attic at night. Is that rodents?
Most likely. Roof rats are nocturnal and most active at night—scratching, scurrying, and gnawing sounds from the attic are classic signs. Squirrels are usually active during the day. Our technicians can identify what you're dealing with during assessment and recommend the right approach.
There's a terrible smell in my house. Could it be a dead rodent?
Yes—a strong, localized odor that gets worse over a few days usually means a rodent died somewhere it can't be seen. This actually happens when trapping is working. Our technicians can locate and remove dead rodents if they're accessible. If the carcass is in a wall void or other inaccessible area, the smell typically dissipates in 1-2 weeks.
Where do you typically find rodent activity?
Attics are by far the most common—we see rodent activity there in the majority of our service calls. Garages are second, especially when door seals are worn or corners are damaged. After that: crawlspaces, wall voids, and areas near water heaters or HVAC equipment where it's warm.
What's the difference between roof rats and Norway rats?
Roof rats (black rats) are agile climbers that prefer elevated areas—attics, ceilings, and trees. They're sleeker with larger ears and longer tails. Norway rats are larger, heavier, and prefer ground-level or below: crawlspaces, sewers, and burrows. Treatment strategy differs based on which species you have.
How long does it take to get rid of rodents?
Most infestations are controlled within 2-4 weeks of trapping. We schedule follow-up visits at about 10-day intervals to check traps, remove caught rodents, and assess activity. Some situations require additional follow-ups depending on infestation severity.
Are your bait stations safe for my children and pets?
Yes. Our exterior bait stations are tamper-resistant—children and pets cannot access the bait inside. We place them strategically in areas rodents travel but away from where kids and pets play. For interior trapping, we primarily use snap traps rather than bait.
What if I keep seeing rodents after trapping?
If activity continues after trapping, it usually means rodents are still entering from outside. We recommend a rodent inspection to identify entry points, followed by exclusion work to seal them. Trapping eliminates what's inside; exclusion keeps new ones from getting in.
Can rodents cause real damage to my home?
Absolutely. We've seen rodents chew through PEX water lines in attics causing significant water damage. They gnaw on electrical wiring, creating fire hazards. They contaminate insulation with droppings and urine, and sometimes chew through HVAC ductwork. Early intervention prevents expensive repairs.
Do you remove dead rodents?
Yes, we remove dead rodents from traps and any accessible areas during follow-up visits. If a rodent dies in an inaccessible location like inside a wall, we can sometimes locate it by smell but removal may not be possible. The odor typically fades within 1-2 weeks.
How much does rodent trapping cost?
One-time rodent trapping starts at $325, which includes initial trap placement and one follow-up visit at approximately 10 days. Additional follow-up visits are available if needed. For ongoing protection, our Barrier Seasonal Plus plan includes exterior rodent control.
Should I also get exclusion work done?
If you want to prevent rodents from returning, yes. Trapping eliminates the rodents currently inside, but if entry points remain open, new rodents will move in. We offer rodent inspections to identify entry points and provide exclusion quotes. See our Rodent Proofing service for details.
