Spider Control in the Greater Sacramento Area

We Remove Webs, Treat Harborage & Keep Spiders Out

Sacramento's warm climate and abundant outdoor spaces make it home to a wide variety of spiders — including black widows, brown widows, wolf spiders, yellow sac spiders, and cellar spiders. Most are harmless and actually help control other insects, but when venomous species start nesting near doorways, in garages, or under outdoor furniture, it's time to call in a professional. Our spider control service combines regular web removal with targeted barrier treatments that reduce both spider populations and the insects they feed on.

Our Process

The Barrier Method

Three simple steps to a pest-free home. Guaranteed.

Inspect
Step1

Inspect

We start by identifying what spider species are active on your property and where they're building webs or nesting. Black widows require different treatment than a general spider population, and knowing what we're dealing with determines our approach.

What we look for:

  • Active webs on eaves, doorways, fences, and light fixtures
  • Black widow and brown widow nests in garages, sheds, and storage areas
  • Ground-dwelling spiders (wolf spiders, yellow sac spiders) near foundations
  • Insect populations that are attracting spiders to your property
  • Exterior conditions — woodpiles, debris, dense vegetation — that create harborage
  • Interior entry points where spiders are getting inside
Treat
Step2

Treat

We physically remove all accessible webs and egg sacs, then apply targeted residual treatments to the areas where spiders build, hide, and enter your home. Treating the insects that spiders feed on is just as important as treating the spiders themselves — cut the food supply and spider populations drop.

Our treatment includes:

  • Physical removal of all accessible spider webs and egg sacs
  • Residual barrier treatment along the foundation perimeter
  • Crack and crevice treatment at entry points — door frames, window sills, weep holes
  • Eave and overhang treatment where spiders anchor webs
  • Targeted treatment of black widow harborage areas — storage areas, meter boxes, block walls
  • Interior spot treatment as needed in garages, crawl spaces, and closets
Protect
Step3

Protect

Spiders are persistent — they'll rebuild webs within days if conditions are right. Our recurring service includes web removal at every visit, maintaining the barrier treatments that keep spider and insect populations low, and monitoring for venomous species. Sacramento's late summer and fall are peak spider season, so year-round protection matters.

Ongoing protection:

  • Web removal at every scheduled service visit
  • Barrier re-treatment on a quarterly or bi-monthly schedule
  • Monitoring for black widow and brown widow activity
  • Seasonal adjustments as spider pressure increases in late summer and fall
  • Year-round warranty — if spiders return between visits, so do we

Frequently Asked Questions About Spider Control

Are black widow spiders common in Sacramento?

Yes. Black widows are one of the most common venomous spiders in the Sacramento area. They prefer dark, undisturbed places — garages, storage sheds, woodpiles, meter boxes, outdoor furniture, and block wall caps. We find them year-round, but activity increases in warmer months. Our service specifically targets the harborage areas where black widows nest.

Are the brown spiders in my garage brown recluse spiders?

Almost certainly not. Brown recluse spiders do not have established populations in California — this is one of the most common misidentifications we see. The brown spiders you're likely seeing are either brown widows, wolf spiders, or common house spiders. Brown widows do have medically significant venom, so if you're unsure, we can identify the species during our inspection.

Why do I keep finding spider webs even after treatment?

Spiders are different from most pests because they don't groom themselves the way ants or roaches do, which means they don't always pick up residual pesticides from treated surfaces. That's why web removal is a core part of our service — physically removing webs and egg sacs has a direct impact on the population. Combined with treating the insects they eat, this two-pronged approach delivers the best results.

How often should I get spider control treatment?

For most Sacramento-area homes, quarterly treatment provides effective spider control. Homes with heavy black widow activity, properties near open space or creeks, or homes with extensive outdoor lighting (which attracts the insects spiders eat) may benefit from bi-monthly service. Our Barrier Seasonal plan includes spider web removal and treatment at every visit.

Is spider treatment safe for my pets?

Yes. We use EPA-registered products applied in targeted areas — primarily along the exterior foundation, eaves, and entry points. The products we use for spider control are the same ones used in our general pest control service and are safe for families and pets once dry, typically within 30 minutes to an hour.

What can I do to reduce spiders around my home?

Reduce outdoor lighting near doors and windows — lights attract the insects that spiders feed on. Keep garages and storage areas decluttered. Move woodpiles and debris away from the house. Seal gaps around doors and windows. Trim vegetation that touches the house. These steps reduce harborage and make our treatments more effective.

Do you guarantee spider elimination?

We guarantee a significant reduction in spider activity and web presence. Complete elimination is difficult because spiders are mobile — new ones can arrive from neighboring properties. That's why recurring service is important. Our year-round warranty means if spider activity increases between scheduled visits, we'll return at no extra cost.
